Bathroom done!

A few accessories to add, but this remodel is done! Shower glass finally got installed this week, the last major component. I think this is the biggest change of any of the rooms so far. First and foremost, the layout works so much better - the old tub/shower placement blocked a ton of light and left very little room between the tub, sink, and toilet. It's much brighter with the new recessed and above sink lighting. The higher ceiling makes it feel much larger too, as does the glass around the shower. No more fake tiles on the wall and fake wood on the floor. Our new-but-vintage-look bath turned out just as we'd hoped! Before, enter the bath, walk directly into the tub: After, smaller shower, new sink location, and higher ceiling open up this tiny (5' x 9') bathroom. Before, fake tiles on the wall (big plastic sheets, really) and outlets above the medicine cabinet, not exactly convenient: After, lots of towel hooks, shelves for decoration (a few of which are still missi...

Before & After - Front Door

Quite the transformation with the new color scheme! Since our house is located in a historic district, the colors had to be approved by the historic district commission.  Front Door After The colors and products used here are (not affiliate links): Door - Sherwin Williams Cajun Red ( link , a pretty red-orange in real life, looks slightly more brown here) Siding - Sherwin Williams Rookwood Blue Green ( link ) Trim (white) - Sherwin Williams Pure White ( link ) Trim (teal) - Sherwin Williams Still Water ( link ) Porch floor - Sherwin Williams Pewter Tankard ( link ) Brick foundation (not shown) - Sherwin Williams Rookwood Dark Brown ( link ) Mailbox - Ecco E4 in Bronze ( link , available via Amazon and elsewhere) Similar Craftsman-style Door With Dentil Shelf ( link ) Front Door Before

Before & After - Entry Stair

Few more pics of the entryway (/temporary bike storage). PS - I'm on the hunt for curtains for the front window, so let me know if you see something that will look good with the tan/black/red scheme.

Before & After - Entry

Like most other rooms - out with paneling, carpet, and acoustic ceiling tiles; in with new walls, ceiling, floor, built-in bookshelves and coat/hat/bag nook.

Before & After - Upstairs Hall

It is so funny looking at the original pics of this place. I almost can't remember all the old acoustic tile ceilings and the carpet.

Before & After - Office

After going through old posts today, I realized how many "after" pics we are missing. I guess they're not completely "after" since they don't have crown molding and aren't decorated yet, but it's close enough for me! The future office is currently serving as a baby play and nap room. The plan is for an L-shaped desk where the pack-n-play is, with some reading chairs on the right. One of these years I may get around to sewing some cushions for the window seats, but I wouldn't blame you for putting money against it. Before we moved in:

Bathroom before & after

Another room complete! This bathroom was not in good shape (love the vinyl parquet floors!), and we didn't think the hose attached to the faucet was a good shower. :) Amazingly, the original clawfoot tub cleaned up (it's practically Dad and Eric kitchen clean), but everything else is new. New and not yucky.

Floor repairs, before & after

Downstairs, the air return is moved from the middle of the entryway floor (weird!) to under the staircase. Upstairs, a weird area was patched with reclaimed heart pine.

Bedroom 2 before and after

No more dark paneling, dirty mauve shag carpet, log cabin-worthy trim, or acoustic tiles stapled to the ceiling. No more opening the door and walking smack into a shelving unit. This room will be our temporary bedroom until the master bedroom is done (hopefully not too long!). After that, it will be a guest bedroom. PS - When I was taking these after pics, I did not realize that the camera was as dusty as the rest of the house, so please ignore the white spots. That will continue for several more posts. :)
